Francuska salata

Neizostavan dio uskršnje trpeze čini i francuska salata.

Rotkvice i mladi luk

Ovom malo ‘težem’ doručku nego što smo svakodnevno navikli, svježinu daju rotkvice i mladi luk.

Jaja

Uskrs – Easter

  1. Kuhana uskršnja šunka (cooked Easter ham)

2. Francuska salata – don’t know why this side dish is called ‘French salad’ in Croatian. French people told me that it doesn’t have the same name in French, but that they do have sth similar, but they call it Russian salad though. 🙂 But this is a very popular dish in Croatia and Croatians love it.

3. Mladi luk (spring onion) – In Split we call this lovely veggie ‘mlada kapulica‘. Normally we eat when we organize the BBQ – it’s the only healthy food served at Croatian BBQ 😉

4. Jaja (eggs) / bojana jaja (pisanice) – We dye the eggs just  before Easter. A lovely tradition this one.

5. Sirnica (sweet bread made during the Easter time) – This word is used in Split to describe this kind of sweet bread. In other parts of Croatia it’s called ‘pinca

  1. You’re right about Francuska salata (French salad), which is called Salade russe (Russian Salad) in France, but did you know that in Russia, it is called “салат Оливье” (Salad Olivier) from the chef who created it, Lucien Olivier, which is of Belgian descent ! 😀 Food doesn’t know any borders 😉
